If on the same week somebody uploads a show you recorded in Paris for La Blogotheque and you play live to the famous radio show Morning Becomes Eclectic in KCRW is because you’re definitely doing it the right way.

The Morning Benders

The Morning Benders

My first approach to these californian musicians was trough their second album Big Echo, launched last march, what really captivated me from the beginning was their level of freshness on their voice and sound. The composition is “dreamy and romantic” as Jason Bentley, radio host and musical director of KCRW, point it out.

The Morning Benders

In direct they are a different thing. I had the chance to see them in two different countries while they were on a European tour and is it hard to imagine what comes next when you see these little creatures with their kid’s faces getting on the stage.

The Morning Benders

These rocker-children have a show with a perfect script to feed love to the crowd and make them sing until the last theme, even if you didn’t listen to them before. All songs are played in versions a little bit different than the ones on the album. Every show is unique, live they more games with the voices –very60’s- and the guitars brings an atmospheric presence to the product.

Just adorable.

What: Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

By David Gómez-Villamediana
@_DavidGomezV

The Amy Winehouse phenomenon looked like a quickly obsession with the media, the strangeness and 1000+ scandals. Drugs, talent and auto destruction. All that tall- messy hair and the smeared  and phony make up –taken from Saraghina of Fellini’s films- had its 15 minutes; and although now is Snooki, from Jersey Shore, who has the tall and messy hair now on TV., is her, Amy Winehouse, who is taking back the headliners. 27 years and she still have that aura of a true artist with a voice of her own which many others want.

Her musical talent is still intact, although her career is a little beat up, but this didn’t stopped Amy to gave birth to a collaboration between her and Fred Perry, a collection compose by 17 pieces which mixes the best of the style of the brit-singer and the esthetics of the famous-laurel-brand.

Who: Carla Mckay

Why: New Chilean Plastic Artist

@Lalecoolia

Carla McKay is one of those cool new artists in Chile at the moment. She has a really large curriculum of galleries on Santiago de Chile where you can see her work on visual arts and photography.

Revistas Peruanas2

Her work is made out of objects she finds on her home and on the streets, mix up with a palette of vibrant colors. Inside some of them you can find well-known-pop-characters such as Heidi, Condorito, Chilean ex president Salvador Allende, some virgins and saints.

Heidi Bordada

Allende

On the photography side Carla works with portraits since 2003 and she affirms: “Sometimes if I see somebody on the streets and I feel their looks are appealing or interesting, I ask them if I can take some pictures, is weird but nobody had said no”.

Although Mckay loves color (like you can see on her work), her portraits on photography are in black and white. Besides that, she had collaborated for some book covers, to editorial Alfaguara, like “Estrellas Muertas”, the last one from writer Álvaro Bisama.

Arturo Prat pop

Where can you find his work? You can stumble across some of her articles on el Museo de la Moda, and if you’re really lucky, you can stand face-to-face with some of her art work in galleries across Santiago, “actually I don’t really know where are some of them (works of art) right now…but I do know they are in a gallery at the moment”, she concluded to Coolhunting Project.

By Greta Álvarez
@Grets

We had been searching the web to find a really nice podcast to fill our iPod. We hit the spot with this one: fresh, specialized and far from the mainstream crowd. Its name is The Brian Epstein Project and its description says: “A jam-packed musical and historical document about The Beatles and its four integrants as solo artists. From Menlove Av. to Pepperland. Roll Up!”

The podcast is made by the Latin American number 1 fan of The Beatles: Alejandro Gómez, and you won’t argue that staple once you click play to every single one of his episodes.

During Time: 40 minutes aprox.

Frequency: biweekly

CHP is also for male audiences  (Machete would be proud of us), that is why we tell you first about this special toolbox shelve made in form of classic cars. This is the right solution for all you guys who love to get hand-on-hand with your vehicles and you are just as jealous with your car as you are with your girlfriend. They are now on sale and you can find hoods with a 1969 Pontiac Firebird form, also a Caddy Fletwood and even classic Chevy trucks to decorate your garage at your wish.

002001

If you always wanted to have an old classic car but you didn’t have the money to afford it, this is the right solution for you. As we write this paragraph we know these will be only on sale in the US. But soon they will be available to ship to your place via Internet.
