Wear it: The West Is Dead
Why: The Old West will always be cool, bisons also

The West Is Dead arrived at a precise moment in an effort to rescue the true identity of the american spirit, the one when John Wayne y James Stewart were at the top of their careers and everyone wanted to be a cowboy. The West Is Dead is an old school jeans proposal: loose and plain old blue-jeans, far from that punk-rocker skinny fashion we can see everywhere on the streets nowadays. The twist about “Dead” is simple, effective and with a little bit of PETA on it: avoid the extinction of bisons, this iconic mammal of the old west. Yes sir, being a cowboy is hot again.

These are handcrafted jeans, the same goes with the reversible sweaters they also have on stock. The interesting part is that when you buy an item you’re contributing to the preservation of what’s left of the Old American West.

The West Is Dead
The West Is Dead

The West Is Dead is trying to put on the roof the quality of the original cowboy jeans, those worn ’till the end by the man of the Marlboro ad, strengthening the American culture of the Old West, bar fights and cowboy spurs. At the same time the brand is looking to preserve those iconics endangered species like bisons, can it get better than this?

They are made by/for lovers of this culture so if you’re in the mood to change those worn out Levi´s of yours or if you feel altruist and you want to contribute with a good cause with style then dress up with The West Is Dead.

For more information give a good ‘ol spur (or a plain click) here to see their cool website.

…and if you like just push play on the video to see the jeans in motion, just like living bisons.

What: Noisey.com
Why: The best emerging bands around the world

noisey. Vice

By Greta Alvarez

@grets

Noisey.com is the new cool-tech-thing from VICE, a website which was shown last Friday in Austin, Texas on a showcase for SXSW. The site comes to position itself as “a new music discovery platform that profiles some of the most talented new bands”.

Their press release tells that “through captivating original short videos, Noisey gives viewers unprecedented access to the lives of bands on and off stage. By capturing the complete live music experience, viewers can join bands on the road and share their experiences as they get ready for a show, meet fans and industry insiders, and explore the city and its local culture.”

The idea of VICE with Noisey is simple and ingenious: videos not over-produced and with a documentary style is what they are aiming for while they travel over the world to hunt new musical talents. It doesn’t mind the continent or language but the music findings.

Noisey by Vice

With only 3 days online Noisey already have 40 videos. Each webpisode focuses on a band and it divides into 5 segments where they show us their life, local scene and non stop live shows.

Noisey is the right digital proposal for music lovers and hunters of newbie bands. Los Angeles, city of red carpets and celebrities in every corner. The main stage for the music industry and cinema mecca. The place of bicicle runs decorated with tall palm trees, sunny days and beautiful beaches. LA, where everyone dreams dress up in Rodeo DR. and ends on a mansion in Bel-Air, and like every important city in the world has a Fashion Week full of style with a californian twist.

Since 2003 LA Fashion Week have being the event where the best fashion designers, stylists, fashionistas, bloggers, celebrities and photographers get together to enjoy the best and freshest fashion collections. That’s how things were this March when in a single week on different places the fashion week was on.

This year LA Fashion Week divided itself in 4. Concept LA Fashion Week which took place in the Ace Gallery, for us @ CoolHunting Project the hip place and best proposal of them all. Style Fashion Week, with a more elegant vibeese series of shows were shown at Vibianas in downtown LA. California Market Week on Fashion District, a little more relaxed than the previous two but not less cool and LA Fashion Weekend on Sunset Gower Studios. Other private events and after parties were offer and we were there.

This first post about the week is here to highlight the coolest assistants to the event:

Wednesday March 16th, 2011 03:58 Red Riding Hood: Little Red She-Wolf

What: Red Riding Hood

By Greta Alvarez

@grets

This is the story of Little Red Cap cut with a pair of twilight’s scissors to search for literal bites and fresh and young faces with an agitated libido. It isn’t shocking that Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) is the director in charge. This is what pre-puberty is asking for while they get thru hormonal changes.

It’s basically a modern adaptation of a classic tale with an attractive visual side and a twist ending, what gives the story a couple of extra points. Compared with Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, the costume design pales in comparison, but at least as a movie is more enjoyable.

K3F_3750.dng

Red Riding Hood star is Amanda Seyfried, an attractive girl who has two boys mad about her, Shiloh Fernandez & Max Irons.  Around the village there is a werewolf on the loose. The grandma with the big eyes, nose and teeth is in here and of course, the signature red hood.

It is classified as a horror movie but it results too soft for horror. In fact the wolf is so CGI it doesn’t scare. The edition and visual effects don’t go further, something strange but I guess it’s the trend because in Twilight the best thing you can see in terms of effects is a glowing vampire.

amanda_seyfried_in_red_riding_hood_movie-normal

I think is time for the industry to come with a genre called: Teenagers on a sexual exploration” because with Hood we are convinced that teen movies like Casper, Teen Wolf, Mean Girls, The Breakfast Club, Home Alone and others are now way behind. The innocence was replaced by hard sexual innuendos and legends where science fiction dressed as complicated love affairs.

lacaperuza

Red Riding Hood has only one reason to exist: try to get into the teen fandom whose are in search of a new movie idols. The film follows all the steps to do that. Besides, if you haven’t seen single twilight episode don’t worry, these two are pretty similar.

It entertained me on a cheap way but it’s something I won’t discuss or analyze ever.  There was the adaptation of Little Red Cap 2011.

Monday March 14th, 2011 09:19 What To Wear, Where: For Any Style Situation

What: What to Wear, Where. (The Book)

Who: Hillary Kerr & Katherine Power from WhoWhatWear

Why: A guide about What to Wear in any situation

By Greta Álvarez

@Grets

Ones of my favourites websites with ground in LA has decided to expand their media franchise and give a jump from digital media to books. Is like this how WhoWhatWear, a site wich tells you in an elegant gossip-chic way what do the celebrities were wearing the night before, launched a book titled: What to Wear, Where. .

Hillary Kerr & Katherin Power, founders of WhoWhatWear website known for the tagline: “We don’t care who you date or if you eat. We only care about what you are wearing”, are also the authors of this book which pretends to be a guide for: Create the perfect outfit for any situation

As on the website, the book has the idea of “Runway to Real Way”, all in life is adaptation, even fashion. The authors are doing a mini-tour in many cities of the United States promoting and signing their book. Yesterday they were on OC, this tuesday they will be in NY (Scoop @ 473-475 Broadway) and on friday 18th in Chicago (4736 N Lincoln Ave.)
