“The idea of the resurgence is what fascinates me the most”. Those were the words from the famous french architect Jean Nouvel when he was asked to take the wheels of the reopening of the old catalan Moritz Beer Factory under a concept that could merge the gastronomic and the cultural side.

30 years after it closed, this factory which can be found in the crowded Ronda de Sant Antoni in downtown Barcelona, has opened its doors once again since last december after a harder restoration work. The final result is an awesome space where the antique design touches elbows with industrial and modern brushes, pushed by an illumination game full of warm colors, and elements made with metal and glass.

Moritz, as a brand, has been around since 1856, thanks to its excellent ad campaigns and overall image. This is exactly what decors the walls inside the factory: their old, but vanguardists ads.

Food @ Fabrica Moritz

Ounces and ounces of fresh beer without pasteurizing are already running through the veins of this new gastronomic center. They don’t have just the brewery, they also offer a restaurant with a wide selection of “tapas” & catalan dishes in honor to the place that gave birth to its founder: Louis Moritz.

Next in line they’ll have a wine bar, a fancy restaurant, a store that will sell memorabilia, handmade bread, and even a museum. The place also has spaces that will be used to show expos and events. The last event was called “The Radiohead Night” where they showed the Life From The Basement Concert inside their old cellars.

Delicious Food and Beers @ Fabrica Moritz

Extra tip: You need to go inside the restrooms. On the way you’ll see the interior of the factory and you need to cross a transparent bridge just before you can go into their minimalistic restrooms. What a trip!

Saturday February 11th, 2012 20:49 Babies with SWAG!

WEAR IT: Children With Swag

During 2011 the word Swag was used as the best way to describe something with tons of coolness on it. It was considered the most overused word of the moment. In 2012 we don’t want to hear “some band has swag” or “that thing is really swag” no more, but this tumblr-blog is different. Children with Swag get the looks of stylish children with clothing you and I could have, in our size of course.

We know Tom Cruise’s daughter, Will Smith’s son, Angelina’s exotic Maddox and Gwen Stefani´s little punk blond are kids with great style, but Children with Swag shows you non famous kids, children with parents without a single Oscar on their hands, normal babies, but pretty cool ones. The idea is parents, brothers, cousins, or friends can send new pictures every day of these modern babies. Forget about those long dresses with a giant bow on them, or those comfortable pants out of date. Now they use sunglasses, skinny pants, and even furs. I didn’t want to believe it, but I guess even putting a teddy bear’s t-shirt on your son will embarrass him, who knows…

Sunday February 5th, 2012 01:03 CHRONICLE is the movie you need to watch this February because…

WHAT: CHRONICLE: The Movie

Chronicle Poster

By Lizandro Melean

@lizandro_melean

1.- It’s a mix between X-Men, Cloverfield, Carrie & Unbreakable, with a little bit of Superman here and there.

2.- Finally someone gives the “found footage gimmick” a a twist, although sometimes it still feels contrived.

3.- Dane Dehaan will remind you of Leonardo Dicaprio in his What’s Eating Gilbert Grape years with a little bit of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker in Star Wars) between his eyes.

4.- There’s more chemistry between these 3 guys in 15 minutes than what you can feel between Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in the entire Water For Elephants.

5.- The special effects are ah-mazing.

6.- The characters feel real and they do exactly what you would do if you could have super powers.

7.- It’s a date movie believe it or not. Your girlfriend/date will grab your arm pretty tight, trust me.

8.- Girls will fall in love with that Mat guy.

Chronicle 01

9.- In some sequences the movie reminded me of Jackass. Just watch it and you’ll know why.

10.- The last 20 minutes have the best action sequences I’ve seen in months. Stallone and The Expendables 2 have some hard work to do!

11.- The cast is full of unknown but great faces.

12.- It’s the closest that Hollywood has been of doing a flesh and bone version of the famous Japanese anime called Akira.

13.- Forget about the lame Smallville TV show, this is the real deal if you want to come closer to the origins of an adolescent superhero.

14.- It’s a familiar drama that deals with subjects such as alcoholism, sickness and alienated adolescents.

15.- You’ll be introduced to “The Apex Predator”.

16.- If you like M83 you have 3 reasons to watch the flick. I won’t spoil which ones.

Chronicle 02

16 y ½.- It’s the indie-hipster flick of the month. Why? You have alienated children with super powers running around hallways. They sound like the bastard kids from M83 & The Arcade Fire right?

17.- If you’re a fan of the superhero genre, why are you still here? Fly and see it!

18.- You’ll remember more than ever what Spiderman’s grandpa told him before his death: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Friday February 3rd, 2012 10:23 POPBOttles: ART + ALCOHOL + BABIES?

WHAT: POPBottles!
WHERE: AnnaUtopiaGiordano.it
$: NOT FOR SALE

POPBottles!

By Lizandro Melean

@Lizandro_melean

Giving alcohol to a minor is against the law, but these baby’s liquor bottles from Anna Utopia Giordano are one of the coolest ways to enjoy a drink feeling like a mad kid. All these would happen if these bottles were on sale, but they aren’t. They’re just only a part of a social awareness project, and the Italian designer will not reproduce them for the general public, although you and I know it would be a huge hit.

POPBOttle: Fisher Price Jack DanielsPOPBottle: Nintendo GINPOPBottle: MARVEL

Who doesn’t want to drink a barbie-tonic, a Fisher Price on the rocks, or maybe a mimosa made with the best Champagne from Disney? You never know what comes in a cartoon’s life after the end credits roll, but we can imagine maybe they have a drink or two (and their babies also).
