BEYOND 02

By Lizandro Melean

@lizandro_melean

BEYOND: Two Souls is the new creation from Quantic Dream and it will be a hit for sure when it comes out next year. David Cage, Heavy Rain’s infamous scriptwriter, is the mind behind this new exclusive project for the Playstation 3 that has Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe as protagonists alongside others famous actors yet to be reveal.

BEYOND 01

Lately, the thin line between reality and this virtual world, created by these game developers for the new game consoles, is thinner than ever before. Games nowadays are offering more than simple puzzles and mere fun to its players.

Gamers can now choose from a wide selection of titles that are way more mature than Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt; these new offerings are more an interactive movie than a game (it reminds me a lot of Phantasmagoria and the Full Motion Video Trend used in the early 90′s), they’re an experience.

BEYOND follows the tale of a girl who seems to have psychic powers (a la Carrie) that is being persecuted by every single police officer in town. If you liked Heavy Rain this is a no brainer. Click on the video above and wash your eyes with this little taste of virtual reality.

The package is reminiscent of the travel tags you get on the airport when you’re checking your luggage before taking your flight. The concept is based on the experience lived on airports on a daily basis. When you apply the perfume in your body it makes you travel to a certain city or to the memories you have from it.

At Henri Bendel

New York is described as a walk on a sunny and cool day around Times Square, the scent has apple drops in it. Los Angeles takes you to Hollywood, where stars are born, with a smell of grapes and plums reminds you of Rodeo Dr. and other places from the city. Munich takes you to a picnic in Englischer Garten while you take an iced lemon tea lying in a lilly flower bed.

The German Anke Weckmann, currently living in London, was the person in charge of designing the illustrations displayed on some package giving originality and a little bit of craziness to the presentation of the product; that’s why the rest of this artist’s work cannot be ignored, so here you have her portfolio  Linotte

Impulsive, mysterious, controlling and unpredictable can describe Jack White. Much more than that, Jack White is a genius. Of course, it’s not hard for someone like that to sell out the Wiltern in Los Angeles, California for two nights, he could easily sell out larger venues but White prefers to maintain a certain level of intimacy in his shows. With an established career as a legend, it’s was very special to see one of his shows in such a small venue. The 36 year-old that has three successful bands under his belt (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather) still keeps doing what he does best: great music.

Having relocated to Nashville, Tennessee with his label Third Man Records has given him a chance to collaborate with a wide array of musicians, from Insane Clown Posse to even TV-host Stephen Colbert.

Being in Nashville implies that you must play country music. And I don’t mean the kind of country that sucks like Billy Ray Cyrus or Shania Twain. Jack White plays country music in his own way, taking inspiration from Hank Williams and mixing it with delta blues and folk.

This night in particular, he is supported by a band made only of females which are called “The Peacocks”, they came from all over the place: LA, Nashville, Alabama and even Denmark. The distance taken to recruit these people makes you confident that they looked only for the best musicians that can keep up with Jack White.

The set included material from his new soloist album called ”Blunderbuss”, there were also song from The White Stripes and The Raconteurs. A musical journey that represented the evolution of styles that Jack White has taken. It would be safe to say that he is currently on his “save country music” stage, and rescue it from the bad reputation that commercial labels gave it.
