If we take into account this is the first Lollapalooza outside the US we can say it wasn’t bad at all. Unfortunately, thanks to the pessimistic nature of chileans I can not catalogue the festival as “pitch perfect” but I enjoy it.
Jared Leto
An ideal weekend: more than 50 bands on stage, only 5 blocks away from my home, bright sun, people from many places of South America and way beyond the pacific all mix together to share two afternoons of excellent music, sun and fun. Incredible.
Dave Navarro
Perry Farrel
The best of LPL? I can’t decide between Jane´s Addiction performance and the spectacular show of The Flaming Lips.
Although Perry Farrel´s voice is not the same from his golden days the show was top notch. It felt like a scene from an erotic-sadistic movie of the 80´s, with gorgeous women hanging from their bodies, dancers behind the stage and of course the androgynus self of Farrel.
On the other side, The Flaming Lips, one of the main dishes of this version of Lollapalooza, didn’t disappoint, not even those who ignore who they were. Giant balloons, “challas” and people dressed as oranges on the stage was all part of the show.
Nick Hexum. 311
I can also point out Ben Harper’s vocal quality, Deftones´s energy, the simpathy of 311, Cypress Hill´s powerful lyrics and Chico Trujillo’s joy. These were other reasons to initiate the countdown for the next installment of this festival.
If you weren’t here this time, then you should be on 2012. I can assure you it will be a lot better.
