If we take into account this is the first Lollapalooza outside the US we can say it wasn’t bad at all. Unfortunately, thanks to the pessimistic nature of chileans I can not catalogue the festival as “pitch perfect” but I enjoy it.

Jared Leto

An ideal weekend: more than 50 bands on stage, only 5 blocks away from my home, bright sun, people from many places of South America and way beyond the pacific all mix together to share two afternoons of excellent music, sun and fun. Incredible.

Perry Farrel. Lollapalooza Chile 2011

Perry Farrel

The best of LPL? I can’t decide between Jane´s Addiction performance and the spectacular show of The Flaming Lips.

Although Perry Farrel´s voice is not the same from his golden days the show was top notch. It felt like a scene from an erotic-sadistic movie of the 80´s, with gorgeous women hanging from their bodies, dancers behind the stage and of course the androgynus self of Farrel.

The Flaming Lips Lollapalooza Chile 2011

On the other side, The Flaming Lips, one of the main dishes of this version of Lollapalooza,  didn’t disappoint, not even those who ignore who they were. Giant balloons, “challas” and people dressed as oranges on the stage was all part of the show.

Nick Hexum from 311. Lollapalooza Chile 2011

I can also point out Ben Harper’s vocal quality, Deftones´s energy, the simpathy of 311, Cypress Hill´s powerful lyrics and Chico Trujillo’s joy. These were other reasons to initiate the countdown for the next installment of this festival.

 Lollapalooza Chile 2011

If you weren’t here this time, then you should be on 2012. I can assure you it will be a lot better.

Know Her: Antonia Tejerina, industrial chilean designer, fashion blogger and the creator of Adoro New Design, a company dedicated to the “design of styles” in any field, the one who worked with Absolut, between others big brands

Antonia Tejerina

Although the biggest part of her job focuses on the “design of styles” of spaces, like restaurants and night clubs, this promising designer told CoolHunting Project that she also feels totally capable to give fashion advice to every single person in the world:

“I know all the latest collections, and I am always looking info about them. I know how people can look great by their heights, their stats, their faces, their hair cuts, etc”.

Actually this girl knows what she’s doin’.

Antonia Tejerina

Fashion + Social Media: Antonia works strategically. She has a Lookbook account where she uploads his outfits to her blog and her web page with specific ends: show the work she does:“That’s how I dress, that’s me daily, I don’t get dress like that for the pictures, that’s me, it’s not a pose”, says.

ADORO-ABSOLUT

Adorodiseno.cl: She says about Adoro, the business she is running almost 2 years ago,: “I took off with a partner, but she quit Adoro that same year, it generated a crisis so I had to innovate and I made the website www.adorodiseno.cl, more serious than what my blog used to be, you just have to click on the category you’re interested in”, tells Antonia.

Her look: Affirms to have a completely genuine style. She defines her look as minimal, “muy adoro” like she says in Spanish. This year he started to upload her photos to social networks, and even though she has spent few moments inside the fashion blogger world, he has like 50 followers in blogger and other 200 on facebook

Nothing more to add about the charming and good looking Antonia, you just have to know her and take a peek into her site to take out ideas and good tips about design and style in Chile, a country which without a doubt has designs, but it has a lack of style.

Who: Carla Mckay

Why: New Chilean Plastic Artist

@Lalecoolia

Carla McKay is one of those cool new artists in Chile at the moment. She has a really large curriculum of galleries on Santiago de Chile where you can see her work on visual arts and photography.

Revistas Peruanas2

Her work is made out of objects she finds on her home and on the streets, mix up with a palette of vibrant colors. Inside some of them you can find well-known-pop-characters such as Heidi, Condorito, Chilean ex president Salvador Allende, some virgins and saints.

Heidi Bordada

Allende

On the photography side Carla works with portraits since 2003 and she affirms: “Sometimes if I see somebody on the streets and I feel their looks are appealing or interesting, I ask them if I can take some pictures, is weird but nobody had said no”.

fotografía1

Although Mckay loves color (like you can see on her work), her portraits on photography are in black and white. Besides that, she had collaborated for some book covers, to editorial Alfaguara, like “Estrellas Muertas”, the last one from writer Álvaro Bisama.

Arturo Prat pop

Where can you find his work? You can stumble across some of her articles on el Museo de la Moda, and if you’re really lucky, you can stand face-to-face with some of her art work in galleries across Santiago, “actually I don’t really know where are some of them (works of art) right now…but I do know they are in a gallery at the moment”, she concluded to Coolhunting Project.

4 days before the great rescue of the Chilean miners, three stages, more than 10 rock bands and 30.000+ people gave life to this mega event, which could reunite lovers of old-and no to old-rock n’ roll music.

Queens of the Stone AgeIncubusPixies

The best: Queens of the Stone Age. A complete show, full of fans singing every song.

The epic: Pixies in Chile! This is one of those bands I would see again and again. Impeccable sound on a very mature show.

The handsome: Chilean girl´s hearts divided between the corpulent Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and the skinny Brandon Boyd from Incubus. Hot.

The cool side: Lovefoxxx with a perfect costume: a black short, a black leather jacket and a white t-shirt.

The strange side: Calavera Conspiracy. Bizarre and creepy

The adolescent moment: Linkin Park, and I declare myself guilty of charge about this moment. I fulfilled my dream since I was 12 years old: sing live “One Step Closer”

Other great bands: Yo la Tengo y El Otro Yo

Sunday October 3rd, 2010 20:36 Rock that shirt!

Wear it: Rocker tees made in Chile

Who: Pauli y Kam

POLERA Grunge

By Alejandra Díaz

@Lalecoolia

Some time ago a couple of friends of mine (Pauli & Kam) discovered the solution to a big problem that has been a pain in the back to many people for decades.

The issue:

You want to get a t-shirt of a rock band, a new rock band, to walk around your neighborhood and make a statement for the world to know what you listen to and which kind of people you want to hang out with. The real issue: your band is so indie and super-unknown you can’t find tees about it.

The solution:

Order the tee to a pair of experts. Who? you might be asking: To Kam & Pauli. With them you can choose the shirt print, your exact size and you can do it yourself. Everything can be done if you ask for it, multiple prints, colors and designs, whatever you want, you’ll have it.

Polera de The Libertines

Solution N° 2: DIY:

Take a worn t-shirt, one of those you use to sleep or to dye your hair, look on Google to find a great stencil you can use on it, from a band, movie or whatever and print it. Cut out the stencil carefully and give it color immediately with the help of some fabric paint. In a couple of minutes that piece of garbage can become your favorite shirt in your entire closet.

Polera de rock

Final note:

If you consider yourself someone with no talent to cut and paint, and you want to have a new tee make by professionals, don’t hesitate to e-mail Kam & Pauly. You won’t regret it.
