The mouse was the cheese’s best friend… until today. Thanks to The Melt the human will be now the best friend of this milk derivative, which is the main ingredient in this sandwich franchise that it’s (hopefully) here to stay.

With several locations across the California, The Melt is using a clean and minimalist decoration where technology and organic collide to create an exquisite and unique flavor in one of the best cheese sandwiches  that the West Coast has to offer. If you’re a sauce lover, forget about them! You certainly don’t want to ruin the flavor of a fine Brie cheese with ketchup or mayo, this is not about that.

All the ingredients are organic and the vegetables are cut in front of you. You don’t need to wait in line for your sandwich, that’s old school! The Melt has a huge state of the art board that tells you when your order is ready, so you can bite it like you mean it.

You can choose between The Mission (for the jalapeño lovers), The Italian Job (all about provolone, The Swiss and other specialties. I decided to get The Italian Job, some chips and a Spicy Black Bean Soup. The chef made each combo with detail and dedication so each soup completes the cheese you’re having in your sandwich.

The Melt @ Hollywood 02

The menu is not that big like in other fast food places, but The Melt is all about sobriety and simplicity and they nailed it with that neat concept. Although is not than cheap, it’s not super expensive neither.

If you’re walking around Sunset Blvd., or around any of their California locations, don’t forget to recharge your batteries eating one of the best-grilled cheese sandwiches in town. This is a step forward in the fast food industry: still fast, but with fresher and healthier ingredients. Bon Appetit!

Now everyone can eat like a hobbit and be proud of it.

The menu has breakfasts, sandwiches and burgers that I’m sure are the main sensations in the land of Frodo & Sam. These dishes will make your mouth water with offerings like the Gandalf’s Gobble Melt or the Frodo’s Pot Roast Skillet.

The prices goes from 5 to 8 bucks per selection. Pretty affordable considering that each dish comes with enough food to kill your middle earth cravings. If you’re not too hungry you still can have a hoot with a variety of smoothies and shakes that would make Legolas proud.

Nerds around the world! Denny’s is the new place to gather and to prepare for battle. If you live near a Denny’s go running amd try this tasty menu, even if you are a Star Wars fan you should give it a try. This promotion will be up and running until January 14th, 2013.

Tuesday February 28th, 2012 23:31 Moritz Beer Factory Reborn From its Ashes

WHAT: Moritz Beer Factory
WHERE: Ronda Sant Antoni, Barcelona
WHY: Fresh beer with a history

Fabrica Moritz @ Barcelona

Phots and Text by Veronica Estrada

@_Nica_

“The idea of the resurgence is what fascinates me the most”. Those were the words from the famous french architect Jean Nouvel when he was asked to take the wheels of the reopening of the old catalan Moritz Beer Factory under a concept that could merge the gastronomic and the cultural side.

Fabrica Moritz @ Barcelona

30 years after it closed, this factory which can be found in the crowded Ronda de Sant Antoni in downtown Barcelona, has opened its doors once again since last december after a harder restoration work. The final result is an awesome space where the antique design touches elbows with industrial and modern brushes, pushed by an illumination game full of warm colors, and elements made with metal and glass.

Fabrica Moritz @ Barcelona
Moritz, as a brand, has been around since 1856, thanks to its excellent ad campaigns and overall image. This is exactly what decors the walls inside the factory: their old, but vanguardists ads.

Food @ Fabrica Moritz

Ounces and ounces of fresh beer without pasteurizing are already running through the veins of this new gastronomic center. They don’t have just the brewery, they also offer a restaurant with a wide selection of “tapas” & catalan dishes in honor to the place that gave birth to its founder: Louis Moritz.

Fabrica Moritz @ Barcelona

Next in line they’ll have a wine bar, a fancy restaurant, a store that will sell memorabilia, handmade bread, and even a museum. The place also has spaces that will be used to show expos and events. The last event was called “The Radiohead Night” where they showed the Life From The Basement Concert inside their old cellars.

Delicious Food and Beers @ Fabrica Moritz

Extra tip: You need to go inside the restrooms. On the way you’ll see the interior of the factory and you need to cross a transparent bridge just before you can go into their minimalistic restrooms. What a trip!

There’s a tradition in several cities around the world called Taco Tuesday. The idea is simple, After Office you reunite and share with your coworkers and friends tacos and drinks, that way you can add excitement to your week.

Tacos de Santa Sofía @ CCS, Venezuela

Although in Venezuela this tradition doesn’t exist I hope the country residents read this and venture themselves to try out this practice. This is why we recommend a classic place with more than 20 years of existence that stills preserves its underground mood untouched. Tacos at Santa Sofía, a little place of sober look but with a kitchen full of flavor.

Tacos de Santa Sofía @ CCS, Venezuela

They are located inside a not so crowded shopping center at Caracas, with a simple menu: Tacos or Tostadas in a board with different flavors and plenty of combinations. Beside of these main dishes they offer pico de gallo salad and tamales. After you order they prepare you meal in front of your eyes and  give you the option to eat there on tables they have on site.

Tacos de Santa Sofía @ CCS, Venezuela

My instructions: Park your car on the Santa Sofía Shopping Center and like a recommendation you can ask for a taco or a tostada with guacamole (the portion of this sauce is huge and a must). Sometimes at night you can find more than a couple of people doing line, but don’t give up, it will worth it.

Tacos de Santa Sofía @ CCS, Venezuela

Definitely a great taquería located in El Cafetal at Caracas to start celebrating the famous Taco Tuesdays.

Tuesday June 21st, 2011 01:19 La Trufa Bakery: To Chacao for a Truffe

WHAT: Pastelería La Trufa
WHERE: Av. Mohedano con Calle Urdaneta. Chacao. Caracas, Vzla

HOW MUCH: Pretty Cheap

I found this place at Chacao, Caracas while I was giving a Saturday hike and I must say it was a sweet discovery, literally speaking. It’s in front of El Mercado de Chacao and by its side you can see a retro store full of kids uniforms mostly for Holy Communions. Saw the place from the distance and I decided to give it a chance. At first you will find a group of tables and chairs which change occupants quickly and then, just in front of the entry, you can see the treasure: a bunch of mini-desserts and truffes.

Pasteleria La Trufa

The prices are way too cheap, a small dessert cost a little more than an Oreo in Venezuela. The ingredients are fresh and sweet. Every bite makes your mouth drool.

Pasteleria La Trufa

The spot is far from glam, it’s just a simple idea for those who want to have a sweet & spontaneous afternoon.

Pasteleria La Trufa

Aside from these little desserts they offer coffees, cupcakes, pies for special occasions, beverages, sodas and a lot of candies
